The District Library in the Haute Savoie region is situated in an old garage in Metz-Tessy (suburbs of Annecy).
This project deals with the requalification of an ordinary shelter, issued from the usual typology of warehouses, at the entrance of all new towns.
The building redefines in scale and space, a new public building from an existing structure.
A prototype building (reception, guardian’s house) detaches itself from the main hall.
The interior space organises itself around the central nave, in accordance with the directions and transparencies resulting from the existing building. A mezzanine, an interior glazed patio and the elliptical volume, of the multipurpose hall, constitute the structural elements that allow the different programs for changes and future evolutions.
